Walmart Price Guarantee For The Holiday Season ~ Will Not Include Walmart.com Purchases
Walmart sent a press release with great news about their price guarantee for the Holiday Season. There was a conference call at 11am EST, so I wanted to participate in that before posting, in case there were any additional details to tell you about.
The Price Guarantee means Walmart will offer shoppers a refund on the difference if they find the same product they purchased at a Wal-Mart store, advertised for a lower price elsewhere in the same market.
Here’w how to get your refund:
- Simply bring in their original Walmart cash register receipt and the local competitor’s current printed ad to Walmart’s Customer Service desk through Dec. 25.
- Once validated, a gift card for the difference will be issued.
- Items placed on layaway will also be eligible for the Christmas Price Guarantee.
- Black Friday and Internet Prices are Excluded
Additonal information from conference call:
Walmart listens to customers wants and have taken action to include Layaway for the Holiday season and the price guarantee. They understand the anxiety customers face with buying an item, only to find it at a lower price afterward. They hope that with this price guarantee policy, customers can buy with confidence and enjoy stress free shopping. There are however, no plans to make this price guarantee permanent at this time.
The price guarantee of local ads will need to be identical. Meaning the item will need to be same brand, quality, color, etc. For electronics, the exact model number will be matched.
In addition to matching local print ads, they will also match the Walmart.com pricing. However, they will NOT match online media. If for example you were to scan the UPC with your ‘redlaser’ application on your smartphone and find the item cheaper at another local store.
I did get to ask Duncan Mac Naughton, the Chief Merchandising Officer, if the price guarantee will also include purchases customers have made from Walmart.com. The answer was no. It only includes items purchased at your local Walmart stores.
Hope that helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to find an answer.
