Semi Homemade Personalized Gift Idea

Semi-homemade personalized tote

By Contributing writer Laura.

This semi-homemade personalized gift idea is perfect for Christmas.  It would also be great for a teacher, mom or friend.  The best part is that you don’t have to be super crafty to do it.
Super easy personalized tote

Step 1: Simply trace your favorite chipboard letter, stamp, stencil or freehand the letter(s) you would like to add to the project. Paint the letter(s).  Acrylic or fabric paint will be fine for this craft as it would be something you would spot clean.  I suggest adding paper or a magazine under the area you are painting to avoid the paint going through the tote.  Imagine the options: Letter of 1st name or last name, entire 1st or last name or even a # for you favorite athlete.

Step 2: Embellishment~Craft stores have a huge selection of embellishments or hair accessories that would be perfect for this project. I chose to buy 1/8 of a yard of satin, cut and burn circles. These circles do not have to be perfect as they edges curl due to the flame. The brad goes easily through the satin and tote although a small hole might be needed.

Step 3: You are done!  What a simple personalized gift for that special person who has everything!!  I have given these to my daughters teachers in the past and they all are in AWE of the creativity and thought that went into their gift.

Just look at the options Hobby Lobby has to choose from. These range from $5.99 to $14.99 and with the weekly 40% off coupon they are an awesome deal!

Super easy and very inexpensive. With coupons and sales I spent less than $6 on this entire project. What a great gift for a loved one or a teacher!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Tote, paint, chipboard for tracing, paintbrush, satin, scissors, lighter and a brad.
