Packing Our Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes – Video
As part of the 30-Day Giving Challenge, we wanted to prepare shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Today I took both kids shopping because I wanted them to be involved and to learn about giving to others. I let them each pick out a box and items to go in it, with my assistance of course. It was so much fun watching them pick things out and discussing how they HAVE to get a football because all kids should have a football! Then I had each of them write a letter and add a picture of themselves. With each box that you pack up, you need to send in $7 with it to pay for shipping costs. This year they’ve added a new feature. You can pay for your boxes online and get a special label to put on it. This label will track your package so you can see where it ends up! I think this will be great for the kids to have some closure. I can’t wait to see where it lands and teach the kids about the country. Here is a little video that may help you pack your own boxes, and don’t mind my daughters funny faces and blue tongue! Make sure you view the video at the bottom of this post. It shows the excitement of a young boy after receiving his box. My kids thought it was great.
Visit Operation Christmas Child to get information on what things to pack and what to avoid. There are location all over to drop them off. I’ll be dropping mine off at New Journey Church this weekend.
Remember your donation is tax deductible.
I posted about our shoe boxes earlier on Facebook, but I got the name wrong, I apologize. But we will be doing the Operation Shoe Boxes too!
