Today was like any other day. I brought the kids home from school and they were getting an afternoon snack, when my daughter (8) said, ” I think there’s a black dog on our lake”. I look up and immediately realize that is no dog. We live on a lake, or what is really a “retention pond” with preserves behind it. We’ve lived here for over 5 years and during that time we’ve seen deer, red fox, turtles, ducks, geese, snakes and lost cats and dogs. BUT this was a wild boar! I’ve heard they were in the area, but never had proof. Now I do. I grabbed my zoom camera and started snapping. I was in my house with the patio door cracked…LOL. No way was I getting near that thing. Apparently the goose didn’t seem to mind. You can click on the pictures to get a larger one. Sorry they aren’t better. I was a little excited and then he ran off.
My husband once said he thought he saw a black panther on the lake. I tease him about it all the time. Maybe this is his “black panther”. :) At least he got the color right. Love ya hun!
Just thought I’d share all the WILD and crazy stuff that happens around here.

I also saw a black panther on my way to an emergency delivery of twins on Halloween 3 years ago. It ran right across Oakleaf Village Parkway around midnight right in front of my Suburban. My friend Kelly (moved to WA) also saw a black panther in Oakleaf area…..Got Gretchen’s, Mark’s and Kelly’s back…we’ve all been made fun of about the black panther sitings.
