Walmart Coupon Policy

by Karen on March 24, 2009

Walmart has their coupon policy posted on their website here. I had a problem with my Walmart accepting my internet printable coupons. Apparently they were scammed, when a customer used fraudulent printable coupons and the manufacturer did not reimburse them for this. The cashier told me they lost hundreds of dollars and the store was holding the cashiers accountable. She apologized for not being able to accept them from me, but she did not want to lose her job. This is why it is important for us to use coupons properly. And why a few people can ruin it for others. On my most recent trip, I tried using printable Q’s again and this time they took them. She did examine it closely, but I am fine with that, knowing it’s a legitimate Q. You can also try not cutting the Q off the paper, so they can read the website address that prints on the top, so they see it was printed from the manufacturers website. As always, print this policy and keep it in your coupon binder. Although flashing it to a Store Manager, after they have dealt with a fraud issue, may not get you anywhere. YMMV (Your Mileage May Very – meaning you may have to drive to another store who will accept them.) Good luck and let me know what experiences you have had. Here’s what the website says:

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
* Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
* Free merchandise (or manufacturer’s Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
* Store coupons
* Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
* Internet coupons
* Soft drink container caps
The following are guidelines and limits:
* Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
* Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
* Internet coupons should be legible and say “Manufacturer Coupon.” There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
* Only one coupon per item is permitted.
* Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.
