- Hoggetowne Medieval Faire. Faire hours are 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 9:30am to 3pm on Friday, February 3. Admission is $14 for adults, $7 for children ages 5 to 17 and free for children younger than 5. This event is in Gainesville at the Alachua County Fairgrounds, 2900 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville. 352-334-ARTS. I did a bigger post with pictures on this one on 1/25/12 if you missed it, more information is there too. ( In case you missed it last weekend and still wanted to go)
- VPK enrollment will be held for families enrolling children born between September 2, 2007 and September 1, 2008. This is for Duval county enrollment and will be on Sat. Feb. 4th from 9-1. Contact the Early Learning Coalition for more information. Enrollment locations include:
1. FSCJ Downtown Campus- Advanced Technology Center (Free parking in Pearl Street lot)
2. Ed White High School- Auditorium
- Sat. Feb 4th at 2pm at the Southeast branch of the library there is a free program called “flight to freedom“. This family event features a Black History Month Interactive Program about Fort Mose consisting of live percussion, poems, chants,and African folktales.
- February 4 – FREE ADMISSION: Water Education Festival – Join the City of Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board, MOSH, St. Johns Riverkeeper and St. Johns River Water Management District for this free admission day. Guests will celebrate one of our most precious resources, the St. Johns River, as they enjoy activities and presentations inside MOSH and around Friendship Fountain. The Water Education Festival is from noon to 4 p.m.
- February 3 – Cosmic Concerts: First Friday Floyd – Experience total-sensory entertainment as laser lights, high-def images and digital sound collide to create a Cosmic Concert! Pink Floyd: The Wall, Matinee at 5 p.m., Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here at 6 p.m., Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon at 7 p.m. and Pink Floyd: Best of the Wall at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at www.moshplanetarium.org or at the door. Tickets are $5 per person per show; laser glasses cost $1.
- Pals N paws agility trials at the Cecil Field Equestrian Center. Thurs.-Sat. from 8:30-5:00, Sunday from 8:30-3:00. This is a dog show where dogs and handlers demonstrate the ability to work as a team. Spectator and parking is free.
- This Sunday and EVERY SUNDAY from 12-4 the MOCA museum offers free admission. If you take the kids, you have to go to the top floor and let them explore the ArtExplorium, a hands on experiential look at Modern Art. This is always available, just a reminder.
- Sat. Feb 4th, Fun Run and 5k at Oakleaf High School. Free event. Prizes to winners. Tshirts free to first 1500 who check in on race day. Ribbons to finishers. Local schools can win money for having student representation.
- Home Depot Kids Workshop, Sat. 9-12. They are making a keepsake box. Free.
- Saturday Feb. 4th 3-5pm at Michaels craft store. Free Make and Take it Valentines card. Free tickets and other great giveaways. First 30 participants will receive a free Speedball Elegant Writer.
