Official Publix Coupon Policy Posted & Picture!

by Karen on May 10, 2011

Well it’s official, Publix has posted their new Written Coupon Policy in stores.   You should find this at the front of your store as well as what stores your Location considers a competitor.

Publix accepts maufacturer’s coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons (originals only-no copies), valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store.) We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only. We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons. We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon, and we reserve the right to limit quantities. Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00. For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item. Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.

My translation:

  • They will still accept 1 MFR & 1 Publix (or competitor) coupon per item
  • They consider BOGO deals 2 purchases and thus will take coupons for each
  • They will only accept competitor pharmacy coupons for prescriptions only (SO no more Wags coupons on BBQ sauce)
  • They will accept $ off of total purchase coupons, limited to 1 Publix coupon and one competitor coupon per transaction as long as the total equals or exceeds coupon requirements.  This means if you are going to use 1 $5 off $30 Publix coupon and 1 $5 off $30 Winn Dixie coupon, your total purchase will need to equal $60. As always, as long as you reach $60 BEFORE all other coupons, you should be fine.  I always recommend handing these to cashier first!

Personally I think this is pretty consistent with what we’ve been doing for years.  Bonus for me is that is says we can use a Publix and Competitor $ off total purchase coupons.  Before some cashiers only let you use 1 or the other.

Check your local store for what they consider competitors.  I’d love for you to leave a comment here with your store location and what competitor list the have posted, if you can!

Thanks to I Heart Publix for the image!

So it looks like you can’t use a manuf, store and competitor on the same item right? Just 2 of them……….

Karen May 10, 2011 at 5:55 pm

Correct Amy, I always did it this way. I had heard there were stores that let you use 1 MFR, 1 Publix & 1 Competitor, but that was always out of the ordinary.

My publix passed out the little papers with the new rules and on the other side the have printed the stores they WILL except coupons from. I live in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the 3 stores they will accept coupons from are: Target, Winn-Dixie and Albertson’s. Which is awesome because we all know how many printable coupons Target has!

Does Food Lion count as a close local competitor for the OakLeaf/Eagle Landing Publix?? :)

Carrie, when I was there last week I was told Winn Dixie and Target, but it had not been officially posted yet! Who wants to stop tonight and find out? :)

Where are you located? I wonder if this is company wide or store specific?

Reply

Karen May 10, 2011 at 6:11 pm

I am in Orange Park, but this is company wide. The only variance is WHAT your location considers a competitor.

They didn’t say anything about doubling coupons in FL.

Karen May 10, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Florida Publix stores do not double coupons.

This is wonderful for us. Our Publix DID NOT take the $5 off of $25 Publix Coupon AND $5 off of $30 Winn Dixie Coupon, even when the transaction hit over $55….so this policy helps us!!
This is for the Publix at Hwy 17 & CR 220 on Fleming Island!
☺ We have never had one complaint about couponing there, they are wonderful!

Hi Fern, I too shop at the FI Publix on Hwy 17 and CR220. Do you know who the competitors are now with the new policy? I know they used to take Target since it’s right next door even though its not a SuperTarget. I wonder if they’ll still take them.

I am pleasantly surprised : ) I seriously was expecting the worse! The only downfall is that my Publix (Kingsland, GA) did let you stack manufacturer, store and competitor on one product. So Bummer that we can’t use the Walgreens anymore : ( But that’s ok! I was so scared that the couponing show ruined it for all of us and I’m excited about what the policy is!

I will stop in tonight and find out what they consider competitors!!

Kristen May 11, 2011 at 9:13 am

Can we still stack 1 manufacturer and 1 competitor coupon though?

Reply

Karen May 11, 2011 at 9:16 am

Yes Kristen you can still stack coupons

All I know is, I miss Publix!!! And you would too if your local grocery chain was Woolworths…

I just came from Publix and the cashier told me the new policy goes into effect May 23rd. Phase 2 will only take Target and Winn Dixie and if you are stacking a manf. with a store coupon it can only be a Publix or a competitor but not both. I’m bummed they will no longer be taking my WholeFood coupons. :-(

Karen May 11, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Oakleaf Phase I Publix goes into effect May 23rd. Target & Winn Dixie are the only competitor coupons they will take.

Megan May 12, 2011 at 7:42 pm

Just called the two Publix on Fleming Island.

220 and 17 accepts Food Lion, Winn Dixie and Target coupons.

Hibernia: Harveys, Target, Winn Dixie.

And like a lot of other stores both say it starts the 23rd.

I am kinda bummed by the new policy, but its not as bad as I feared. My stores in Orlando were letting me stack $5/$25 Save-A-Lots. Now it looks like they’ll only take 1. Wonder if they will still take expired Publix coupons? Expired store coupons have always been on a store – by – store basis, but I didn’t see anything about it in the policy.

I’m in Oceanway in Jax, FL, and the Publix across from First Coast High School is accepting Food Lion and Winn Dixie competitor coupons. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Target anywhere near here, so they aren’t included. :-( Karen, it would be AWESOME if you could do a post on which locations take which competitor coupons. That is, once you find out from all your avid followers! :-) Thanks for your great blog and info!!

Extreme Couponing doesn’t show where they are shopping. I would love to know what stores allow them to clear out the shelf, buying 45 tubes of tooth paste for free! Publix is clearing stating they will clearly not allow this. Other then for selfness nature (throwing off their inventory) I’m not sure I quite agree with this. If they have a sale and we have the coupon, they should honor it. If they want to break things up into 40 transactions, so be it. It’s their choice. It just seems like more work for them. Maybe I do not understand the policy thoroughly.
