Have you seen the commercials yet? As of February 1st, 2012, JCPenney will have a new sale structure and will not longer be releasing coupons, nor having the 100’s of “sales” they previously had throughout the year. The company will use last year’s sales figures to slash all prices at least 40% or lower than last year’s prices. Here is the structure:

  • “Every Day” low pricing daily
  • “Monthly Value” discounts on select merchandise each month
  • “Best Price” or clearance deals during the first and the third Friday of each month when many shoppers get paid.

This strategy is to help take the guess work out for shoppers and make it easier.

I’ve had my eye on a Bedding set for our Master bedroom makeover.  It’ll be interesting to see what the price ends up being.  But at least I won’t have to track down a coupon for it.

What do you think of this new structure?  My guess is, only time will tell.

I was at my local JCP today and had already changed the prices to reflect their new “everyday lowest price”. I was super disapointed! I went to get jeans for my 8 year old. Normaly arizona jeans would be on sale for 14.99 at times. Plus, if I had a coupon, it would be even cheaper. The new lowest price they have them at is 20.00 bucks!! I looked at the jewelry and all of it was much more than it was before the big change. I can’t speak for every department in the store, but I was not impressed at all, just the opposite. jcp was my favorite store :(

Yeah, I am wondering the same thing. I think those that know prices will not be fooled. Unless the prices do go down. The ones that don’t shop with a coupons will probably be excited about it. Hopefully it works for JCPenney and we do get some good deals.

So sad I’ve been waiting for a $10 off $25 coupon that will never come :( I probably wont he shopping there anymore. I never pay full price for clothes. I have 5 kids and shop sales combined with coupons. I have a feeling their prices will be like Walmarts supposed values. I don’t buy clothing at Walmart because I can shop elsewhere and get better prices combining sales and coupons. At least I occasionally find awesome clearance racks at Walmart $1 and .50 clothing seems unlikely to happen at jcp from what I’ve been reading =(

I will no longer shop at Jcpenney. The prices are horrible. I always used my coupons. I would always complete my survey online, and go shopping using my 15% off coupon. I was a regular customer at Jcpenneys. How disappointing. They need to get a new CEO. He needs to be reminded this is not Apple. We are middle class working people who look forward to our 10 off of 10 coupons or our 10 off 25 coupons. I have also cancelled my Jcpenney Credit Card. I will be a regular at Macys now.

I will not be shopping at Jcpenneys anymore either. My daughters friend works there and she told us in Dec that the new CEO that they hired HATES coupons and said no more coupons. I say no more shoppers idiot. I went into the store and it seems higher priced to me now and without my coupons, forget it buddy. It will be very interesting to see how the CEO is sitting at this time next year after all the rabid couponers realize he pulled all the coupons for good.
