Donating Expired Coupons to the Military

by Karen on January 30, 2010

How many times have you cleaned out your coupon organizer and thrown away the expired ones?  I hated doing this and when I saw you could send them to American Military bases overseas I was thrilled.  You see there are Military bases that accept expired coupons up to 6 months after expiration.  You can go to the Overseas Coupon Program and adopt a base.  The coupons are placed on tables at the PX and Commissary or passed out to military members and families on base.  Although they accept coupons up to 6 months after expiration dates, they request that you not send coupons older than 2 months.  This gives the volunteers time to sort them, get them to families and then gives the families time to use them.  All you have to do is pick a base to adopt, that says “Yes, please adopt us”.  Then fill out the adoption form.  Saving The Family Money has adopted Yokosuka, Japan because that is where my sister and brother in law were stationed.  Their list of organizations also seemed small compared to some of the others.  I’m excited about getting this started.

Do you know if they accept printable coupons that I have printed from the internet?
