America’s Test Kitchen – Christopher Kimball – Slow Cooker Revolution Cookbook

Do you ever watch America’s Test Kitchen? I love this show and after seeing Christopher Kimball on the Today show this morning talking about Slow Cooker recipes, I decided I should price their book, Slow Cooker Revolution. Not to mention they sent me an email about it!  But I found it on Amazon for $16.53 at almost 40% off.  Here is what America’s Test Kitchen says about the book:

Creating slow-cooker recipes that were simply convenient wasn’t going to cut it. We spent thousands of hours developing unique techniques that, unlike other slow-cooker recipes, yield complex, satisfying flavors and textures. With 30 slow cookers going all day, every day, for most of a year, we learned a lot about using a slow cooker. The result is this revolutionary collection of recipes you’ll really want to make. From easy-to-make lasagnassatisfying pasta sauces, all sorts of enchilada andtaco fillingskid-friendly macaroni and cheese and sloppy joes, tosavory breakfast stratascreamy polenta, and fudgy pudding cakes, these recipes offer appealing options for all occasions.

They also tested over 30 Slow Cookers to see if they could save money on one, without sacrificing performance.  The highest model was $250, but the one they liked the best was the All Clad 6 1/2 quart Slow Cooker for $150.

Here are a few reasons they liked it:

  • Programable
  • Warm mode – switches automatically
  • Clear Lid
  • “ON” indicator light

I found the All Clad Slow Cooker on Amazon for $137.63, it ships for free and Amazon does not charge taxes for Florida residents.  Not to mention I have Swagbucks  credits that I used for Amazon Gift Cards.  My Crockpot was given to us as a wedding present and it’s over 15 years old.  Now I love it, but it’s deep and narrow and difficult to cook some things in.  It might be time to invest in a new one.
