I get asked all the time ways to save money on fresh produce. So here are my top 5 tips.
Buy Produce In Season ~ When produce is in season it’s much cheaper than buying it out of season. We plan our dinner and lunch menu based on what is in season.
Shop local Farmer’s Markets ~ Supporting local farmers is great and in many cases they have lower prices than the grocery stores, fresher produce and no middle man. You can also negotiate pricing.
Join a local Produce Co-op ~ Many of these are Organic and when they buy local in bulk, everyone saves.
Price Match ~ Stores like Walmart and others will price match other local store ads. Take the competitor ad with you just in case and ask if you aren’t sure.
Use Coupons ~ Coupons for produce are rare but they do exist. You can also use coupons on other items you are buying and possibly get an overage, and that money can help on your produce. For example, if you purchase a $1.00 deodorant and you have a $1.50 off coupon, the store will take the entire $1.50 off. Essentially giving you an extra .50¢ off another item in your cart, like produce!
